EIP Manager

Post by RKoczan »

Is it possible to have more than one EIP manager running.
I 'm modifying an existing system that has existing AB control logix PLCs communication by ethernet IP and existing EIP manager running.
I'm adding a compact logix PLC to the system, once the new connection is configured in SysMgm -> Driver -> Ethernet/Ip Driver and I'm addressing the datapoints can I specify the same driver number for datapoints using the new connection?

I tried adding an additional EIP manager to keep things separate but was unable to do so.

Thank you

According to the driver information in the WinCC OA Documentation it is possible to start more than one EIP driver in a WinCC OA project.

Thank you for your reply.

A couple of things.

Does it matter if multiple PLCs use the same EIP Manager, what are the implications of doing that?

If its necessary to use an additional EIP Manager, this has to use a different port number, according to the help there should be an entry in the config file of the format, which is the default setting.
[EIP_1]
serverPort = 44818 //IP Port number of host system driver instance

When I added an different EIP to the config file the manager still wouldn't run.

I did see the following in the help:

"All EIP PLCs are assumed to be using port 44818 – this cannot be specified."

Does that mean the PLCs must use the default port and therefore all PLCs must use the same EIP Manager?

Thank You

The entry for the serverPort must not be changed as the WinCC OA EIP driver cannot deal with incoming connections.
Did you use a different manager number as startup option when trying to start another EIP driver?
