RDB/NGA limit the archive size to a number of values per DPE

I would like to limit the size of an archive group to a limited number of values per DPE.

Has anyone already done this before? How did you do this?
Is this just with a database trigger removing the oldest records?

Which functions are available in the database regarding the segment duration depends on the type of database used, since databases can have different limits.
The size setting determines the archive group (which DPE is assigned to which archive) and is not defined via the segment (which you would like to do in this case).
